Eggs are a great source of nutrition to obtain proteins. Proteins serve as building blocks for your cells. They not only build, protect, and repair muscle tissue but all types of tissue in your body. They are essential in a healthy diet. Another advantage of eating eggs is that you can endlessly vary with them. To inspire you, we have compiled five healthy egg recipes.
1. Scrambled eggs with avocado and chicken strips
Some egg recipes take quite a bit of time to prepare, but with this recipe, you can whip up a nutritious breakfast or lunch in no time. While you brew a cup of coffee or tea in the morning, melt a knob of coconut oil in a frying pan and crack two eggs into it. All you need to do is stir because the eggs don’t need to look pretty or cook for long. Season with pepper and salt, and in three minutes, you have scrambled eggs on the table. Add half an avocado and possibly some chicken strips or smoked salmon, and your egg meal is ready.
2. Boiled egg on the go
You probably recognize the moment when you are on the go and get hungry or feel peckish in the afternoon. Our tip: make sure you have a boiled egg with you or can leave one at work. This way, you can enjoy a boiled egg as a healthy snack or add it to a salad or sandwich. For example, boil a few eggs in the evening while preparing dinner and store them in the fridge to take with you or add to a meal. Easy does it.
3. Farmer's omelet with vegetables
Do you still feel energetic enough for the rest of the day after lunch? Instead of making sandwiches with salami or sprinkles, you’d be better off making a farmer's omelet with vegetables. This way, you’ll get plenty of vegetables and proteins, and you won’t feel so sluggish after lunch. With this healthy egg recipe, you can quickly make a farmer's omelet. Don’t have the option to fry an omelet at your workplace? Then prepare the farmer's omelet in the evening or morning. You can easily take this egg dish with you and eat it later in the day.
4. Varying with egg muffins
If you have a bit more time, you can experiment with more elaborate egg recipes. On weekends, it can be nice to have a big breakfast with the family. Instead of croissants and ready-to-bake rolls, egg muffins are a fun and healthy alternative. Egg muffins are baked eggs in muffin molds. You can vary with the ingredients you add, such as in this recipe with tomato and chicken breast. And in this recipe they use hollowed-out bell pepper halves as muffin molds. With egg muffins, you have a delicious healthy egg dish that is also fun to make together and looks great on the breakfast table.
5. Frittata with salmon and spinach
A popular combination with eggs is with spinach and salmon. You can add these ingredients to your egg recipes, thus directly incorporating healthy fats and iron into your meal. If you want to make a dish with eggs in the evening, then a frittata (with salmon and spinach) is definitely worth trying. A frittata is a cross between an omelet and a pizza; you add various ingredients to the egg mixture such as vegetables and cheese, and it is cooked slowly (often in the oven).
