  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

  • 1 tablespoon protein powder (for example, vanilla)

  • 1 good pinch of cookie spices

  • 1 good pinch of cardamom

How to make orange-flavored overnight oats

You can prepare the orange-flavored overnight oats the night before. Use a bowl that you can put in the fridge, or if you eat your breakfast at work or on the go, grab a takeout container. Here’s how to make it:

  • Put the oatmeal, chia seeds, and protein powder in the bowl or container.

  • Add a small splash of water (not too wet) so you can mix the dry ingredients together.

  • Cut an orange in half and grab a grater.

  • Grate the peel of half an orange over the mixture and then squeeze the juice from the half orange over it. Mix well with a spoon.

  • Add a few tablespoons of yogurt or quark of your choice and mix everything into a paste.

  • Season with some cookie spices and cardamom.

  • Let the overnight oats sit in the fridge overnight.

  • The next morning, take it out of the fridge and check the consistency. If it’s a bit dry, add some more water. It’s always nice to top it with a fresh tablespoon of yogurt or quark (and good for the protein!)

  • Finish your overnight oats with toppings. Sprinkle a teaspoon of cacao nibs on top and garnish with some nuts and seeds.

  • Tip: it’s also very nice to add some fruit like fresh pieces of orange, wild peach, or passion fruit.
